The Mossel Bay Municipality in the Western Cape says fire fighting efforts are continuing with crews attending to flare‑ups in Aalwyndal and surrounding areas.
The fire towards the north-eastern flank has been contained. Other flanks of the fire are also contained, with active firefighting still underway to contain the north western flank at the top of Aalwyndal.
Fire authorities say aerial firefighting resources have been effective.
At present, no structures are in danger. It’s still unclear how many properties have been affected. Those residents who were evacuated last night, have been allowed to return to their homes.
The public is urged to be cautious and avoid the Aalwyndal area.
