Fatal R410 accident claims three lives in Eastern Cape

Three people have been killed when their vehicle overturned on the R410 at the Dubeni location near Cacadu in the Eastern Cape, on Friday.

Provincial transport spokesperson Unathi Binqose says the vehicle had five occupants when the driver lost control, leaving three dead at the scene, while two others suffered critical injuries and have been rushed to hospital.

Binqose says a culpable homicide inquest has been opened and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.

“This tragic accident reminds us once more that losing control of a vehicle, whether due to speed or fatigue or any other factor, can have consequences that are devastating, as we have seen in this accident. It is for that reason that we are urging road users, motorists in particular, to be alert at all times, and ensure that every journey is taken with safety as the top priority.”
