The author of the book titled ‘Farm Killings in South Africa‘ Dr Nechama Brodie says there are no white farmers who are being targeted simply because of their race.
US President Donald Trump signed an executive order stopping all aid to South Africa over what he called a human rights violation against a white minority group.
The Trump administration says the South African government is allowing violent attacks against Afrikaner farming communities.
In her book, Dr Brodie challenges many of the myths related to farm killings.
“We know that farm murders don’t just affect white farmers, they affect everybody living and working in and around agricultural areas and in rural areas. There have been people who push conspiracy theories pretty much to boost their own popularity and we can see that in some of the so-called prominent figures in sort of Afrikaners communities. I think the majority of Afrikaner communities in South Africa are saying we want to be here, we want to work together, and you have a few who stand out and spread conspiracy theories. And unfortunately, this is what is taking hold in the United States. In particular, we can see that they love leadership that is full of falsehoods”.
