The family of slain African National Congress (ANC) branch convener in the eThekwini region Sipho Simiso Dlamini has reacted with shock to the news of his killing. Dlamini was gunned down by unknown gunmen in Umgababa south of Durban on Saturday night. He was travelling home with two community leaders including a traditional leader when they were attacked. Dlamini had also served as a ward councillor between 2011 and 2016.

His brother, Bhekithemba Dlamini says as a family, they are still in shock after this incident as they never anticipated that it would happen.
“In this world, no one knows what tomorrow holds. We are deeply saddened that this occurred at a time when my brother was no longer serving as a councilor – we expected such an incident to happen at that time. My parents have lost their son and we have lost a brother, we are very sad my brother was everything in our family.”
