Handover of the remains and reburial of Thabo Mosala.
The late political activist Thabo Mosala’s remains have been repatriated and reburied at his hometown in Matatiele in the Eastern Cape.
Mosala died while in detention in 1976 at Butterworth during the Apartheid era. His passing was recorded as a natural death which left his family doubt and without any closure.
His grandson, Moeketsane Mosala described him as a man who believed in justice and a true activist.
“As the family we are really happy that there are some developments as the exhumation happened. The preliminary results confirm that it is indeed my grandfather buried there because there were doubts surrounding the cause of death and if it was really him.”
Mosala’s remains were exhumed after the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) documented cases for further inquiry.
