The families of the two babies who were abducted on Tuesday night from Dora Nginza Hospital in Gqeberha are still looking for answers.
The babies were stolen from the nursery, while still in incubators, with security guards present. They were returned late Wednesday afternoon and reunited with their mothers.
The Department of Health reported that they were unharmed.
Missing babies | Eastern Cape Police arrest two women:
Phumela Stofile, an aunt of one of the infants who was taken, highlights the plight of patients in the maternity ward.
Stofile reveals that her four-day-old nephew’s arms were broken during the delivery, and they are yet to receive answers on how that happened.
“The mother told us that the child’s arm had been sprained during the delivery, but the nurses told her not to worry, the child would be fine. All to find out later that the child’s arm is actually broken. Nobody has explained to us how that really happened, and that’s what we want answers for. How did that happen when the child was delivered through a C-section? We were told that the child has small bones, but we just don’t understand that at all. We want answers.”
