Families of 2024 Lusikisiki massacre victims believe justice will eventually be served

The families of the 18 people killed in Ngobozana Village in Lusikisiki, Eastern Cape, in 2024 believe that justice will eventually be served, despite the slow pace in the matter.

The trial against the six men accused of this mass murder resumed last week after a recess in September 2025.

On Tuesday, the lawyer for accused number four, Bonga Hintsa, cross-examined State witness Lwando Abi.

Advocate Zama Somahela put it to Abi that his client never received any instruction from accused number one and alleged mastermind in the case, Mzukisi Ndamase, to go and shoot at the Sinqina household but Abi disputed this version of events.

The families of the deceased want the matter to be finalised to get closure.

Spokesperson of the families David King says they are looking forward to judgment day.

“It has begun but it is going at snail’s pace. We are looking forward to the situation whereby the judgment will come soon as possible. It is still a very early stage because this is the first witness. The other one is still coming; we don’t know what is going to unfold when that one comes.”
