Microsoft’s revolutionary diagnostic medical AI.
Clinical experts are warning that a reliance on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for medical diagnosis carries a high margin of error, as the technology lacks the nuance to manage unique, individual health cases.
Dr Jess Morris of Mediclinic Morningside maintains that while AI can assist in data processing, it will never replace the human mind’s ability to provide personalized treatment plans.
“Despite the fact that it’s so intelligent, it will never replace the human mind. I think that’s something very important. And when it comes to medical care, I think the biggest thing is, is we’ve seen over the years how Google knows Doctors, we always call it “Doctor Google” for that specific reason. You know, you put in your symptoms and, of course, what’s it going to do? It’s going to spit out the list of possibilities, and cancer’s always unfortunately or I’m dying in two days.”
