EU and SA develop R90 billion clean trade partnership: Minister Tau

Trade and Industry Minister Parks Tau says South Africa has joined hands with the European Union (EU) in developing a clean trade agreement partnership.

He says the EU has committed to fund the relationship with an amount of R90 billion.

He revealed this during the tabling of his budget vote of the department in Parliament.

“We had a summit with the EU of which we have agreed on what is the developing as a model trade agreement accord, the clean trade investment partnership. And they committed to an initial R90 billion to facilitate clean trade investment between our respective countries. Of course, they are a union of countries so we are talking about them in the context of being an EU. And we did that because we understand that there are opportunities that lie in facilitating clean trade investments with the EU.”
