The Hillbrow Magistrates Court.
Twenty-eight Ethiopian nationals are this morning expected to appear in the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court for contravening the Immigration Act.
The group was discovered earlier this month at a home in Sandringham and the Hawks in Gauteng have taken over the investigation
On January 9, authorities responded to a tip-off of suspicious activity at a Sandringham residence.
Upon arrival, they allegedly found 28 naked individuals, believed to be Ethiopian nationals held captive.
Several required hospital treatment and some escaped through a window and burglar bars when police intervened.
The group aged between 18 and 21 appeared in the Hillbrow Magistrate’s Court, charged with being in South Africa illegally.
The matter was postponed to today to allow for those still in medical custody to appear.
