Eskom has reported a profit of R24-billion for the first six months, ending in September 2025.
The improvement in the power utility’s financial and operational performance has been attributed to the successful implementation of the turnaround strategy, as well as decisive and effective leadership.
Eskom’s interim financial result coincides with the end of the board’s term.
In a statement, Eskom states that they’ve delivered 96% electricity supply in 2024/25, improving to 98% year to date.
“Loadshedding limited to only 26 hours in total over the evening peak on four days, with 36GWh estimated lost. No loadshedding implemented since 15 May 2025. Kusile Unit 6 (799MW of installed base-load capacity) achieved commercial operation during the period, while Medupi Unit 4 (720MW of nominal base-load capacity) was returned to service after extended repairs.”
Continued execution of turnaround plan drives Eskom group’s profitability and sustainability: profit after tax increases to R24.3 billion (unaudited) in first six months of FY2026, to be reinvested in critical infrastructure
