South Africans have woken up to darkness after Eskom implemented Stage 6 load shedding in the early hours of this morning.
The power utility says the escalation of rolling blackouts, until further notice, follows multiple unit trips at the Camden Power Station in Mpumalanga.
Eskom implemented stage three load shedding late yesterday afternoon due to multiple unit trips at the Majuba and at Medupi power stations.

The return of power cuts followed over 20 days of uninterrupted electricity supply.
The power utility says the implementation of Stage 6 load shedding from 01:30 this morning will enable it to replenish emergency reserves and prepare for the week ahead.
Eskom is set to give an update to the country at media briefing at 11:00 this morning following this latest major setback.
