The Enyobeni tavern manager is expected to continue to testify in the Mdantsane Magistrate’s Court, Eastern Cape, in the inquest into the deaths of 21 teenagers.
Siyakhangela Ndevu will testify for a third consecutive day in the court in East London.
The inquest is seeking to establish if anyone can be held liable for the deaths of the teenagers in 2022.
Legal representatives of the bereaved families and Ndevu’s former employee, Thembisa Diko, cross-examined Ndevu.
According to Ndevu, he was not aware that the safety of the patrons was his responsibility, as the bylaws stipulate.
Meanwhile, family members of the young children who died have bemoaned the delays in the inquest.
The tragedy marked three years last month, marked three years last month, and the victims were remembered in a candlelight memorial ceremony at St. Peter’s Methodist Church in Scenery Park.
