The Enyobeni inquest has been postponed to the 31st of March next year.

Eastern Cape Liquor Board inspector Zuko Lizani was the last witness to take the stand.

He told the court sitting in Mdantsane that the board does not have enough inspectors on the ground and it relies on SAPS to monitor compliance at liquor outlets.

Sizani also admitted that he received complaints of non-adherence to trading conditions involving operations at Enyobeni prior to the June 2022 tragedy.

The court has also learnt that there was a shooting incident that took place at the establishment in 2021.

The board said it received the report after the death of 21 young patrons.

Tavern owner Siyakhangela Ndevu is expected to take the stand when the inquest resumes.
