Lab tech holds TB cultures for testing
The Portfolio Committee on Health and Wellness in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature says it will continue to holding health authorities accountable for the effective implementation of TB control measures.
It says the measures include early diagnosis, compliance to treatment and public awareness. The committee’s statement comes as South Africa joins the international community in observing World TB Day.
The day highlights the urgency of eradicating tuberculosis, the world’s deadliest infectious disease.
The committee’s spokesperson is Ezra Letsoalo, “The committee urges Gauteng residents to take responsibility for their health by seeking medical attention at the first sign of symptoms and completing their prescribed TB treatment. Ending TB requires a collective effort from all sectors, including communities, to eliminate the disease and improve public health outcomes.”
