Three more charges have been added against an Eldorado Park father accused of allegedly physically and sexually assaulting his four-year-old daughter.
The father now faces five charges including murder, rape, compelled rape, child abuse and assault with intent to cause harm.
The child’s mother faces a charge of failing to report a sexual offence against a minor.
Both accused appeared before the Protea Magistrates’ Court separately and have indicated they intend to apply for bail.
NPA Spokesperson Phindi Mjonondwane says the case has been postponed to next week Monday for formal bail application.
“With the case against the father, the father is now facing five charges. We’ve added three additional charges to the two that he was facing on his first appearance, which is that of rape, compelled rape, murder, child abuse, as well as assault on a minor child. Whilst the mother on the second docket is facing a charge of failing to immediately report a sexual offence against a minor … Both matters have been postponed to August 18,” she says.
