Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department officers seen working at a roadblock.
Ekurhuleni Public Safety MMC Sizakele Masuku has promised protesting metro police officers that the City will respond to their grievances soon.
The officers held a protest outside the municipality offices in Germiston today. They are demanding salary increases and danger allowance among others.
Earlier, the officers blocked major routes including the R21 towards the O.R Tambo International Airport with state vehicles causing massive traffic disruptions.

Some of the roads have since been opened to traffic. Masuku addressed the protesting officers.
“Whatever it is that you’ve brought to the political heads, we will take it as the Mayoral Committee together with the Executive Mayor, assess and respond. We will be giving the response with facts.”
