The City of Ekurhuleni in Gauteng has allocated over R500 million towards the rehabilitation of roads.

Ekurhuleni Finance MMC Jongizizwe Dlabathi announced this whilst tabling the City’s 2025/26 budget at the Germiston Civic Centre.

Dlabathi says there is an urgent need to address the terrible condition of the road infrastructure in Ekurhuleni.

“A total budget of R946 million is allocated to roads and transport management from R814 million in 2024/25 financial year. The R527 million of which will be for road rehabilitation and patching of potholes. The mayor was clear that and I quote is the issue of potholes is becoming an albatross for the city,” adds Dlabathi.
