Eight people have been shot and killed at an informal settlement in Umlazi, south of Durban.
Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says the victims were inside a dwelling when an unknown number of suspects entered and opened fire, killing all of the victims at the scene.
Netshiunda says an investigation into the motive of the killings is underway.
“Police responded to reports of multiple murders and upon arrival at the scene, eight people, six men and two women, whose ages range between 22 and 40 years old, were found lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds.”
“Investigations into the possible motive of the killings are underway and police have launched a manhunt for the suspects. Police are appealing to anyone who might have information which can assist in the investigation to contact the nearest police station or call the crime stop number, 08600 10111.” – Reporting by Samke Mtshali
