TVET College students led by the Economic Freedom Fighters Youth Command are marching in Pretoria, April 13, 2026.
TVET College students led by the Economic Freedom Fighters Youth Command are marching to the Higher Education and Training Department in Pretoria.
They are dissatisfied with the National Student Financial Aid Scheme’s funding for Occupational Programme students.
They say students who enrolled for this course do not receive a living allowance from NSFAS, only funding for accommodation.
EFF Tshwane Youth Command coordinator, Elvis Chiwawa, says they want NSAFAS funding to be extended to include all students.
“We are hoping that since on the 17th of April, NSFAS is going to distribute a living allowance, it must also include the occupational students. Now it’s 3 months without a living allowance and also they are not paying for their accommodation. We are hoping that the DHET will listen to us and make sure that the students of occupational gets their allowance.”
