EFF wants MPs who visited Israel to be investigated

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) says some Members of Parliament (MPs) who went on a trip to Israel must be summoned to appear before the Speaker of Parliament and the Joint Standing Committee on Ethics.

The party also wants the lawmakers to have their diplomatic privileges suspended pending investigation.

Some of the MPs who went to Israel include members of the DA, PA and the ACDP.  The EFF says this so called fact finding mission is nothing less than a betrayal of South Africans and Palestinians.

It says the visit is a shameful attempt to legitimize a regime that is currently engaged in one of the most brutal and well documented genocides of the 21 century, the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians in Gaza.

The EFF says the visit must be investigated and Parliament must demand full transparency.

The opposition party has also urged the International Relations and Cooperation Department to issue a formal statement disassociating South Africa from this rogue delegation.

It further called for Israeli embassy to be closed in South Africa.
