EFF Deputy President

at Day 2 of the EFF Plenum 2026.
The credibility of the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has come under the spotlight on the second day of the 2nd plenum of the 3rd Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) National People’ Assembly at the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg.
The party has raised concerns about the conduct of the election body ahead of the upcoming local government polls.
The party’s second in command is urging the IEC to address the identified gaps within it.
The EFF is meeting this weekend to assess the current situation and prepare for the upcoming election.
Not holding back and leaving nothing to chance, EFF Deputy President Godrich Gardee has questioned the credibility of the IEC in doing its work during elections.
This as the party gathered this weekend to prepare for the upcoming Local Government Election. Gardee took the electoral body to task.
“IEC, what are your control measures to ensure that there are no fraud in every election we have. WE rea asking this question because of the brazen attitude of iec officials is at another level they even stole eff votes in the vd where president is voting for example eff got 900 votes in seshego in 2024 and anc got 300 votes we have the copy of the results slip but when you look at the roc they captured vice versa.”
On its second day, the party received presentations from the IEC, StatsSA, and the demarcation board.

Gardee has accused IEC of wrongdoing, suggesting that it amounts to an act of corruption.
The timing of elections also came to fore. The EFF second in command argues that participating in the elections is unreasonably expensive for political parties and that opens the door for politicians to engage in corrupt practices by seeking funding to cover the costs of participation.
In response, some of the bodies said the EFF’s grievances are legislative in nature.
EFF leader Julius Malema is expected to close the gathering on Sunday.
