The Economic Freedom Fighters march.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) will hold what it calls “a VAT victory march” in Pretoria on Monday morning. The march is set to begin at the Union Buildings then proceed to National Treasury.
It comes two days before Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, will table his third Budget for this year in Cape Town in the Western Cape.
The party’s victory march comes after what the EFF has termed as a successful defeat of the Value-Added Tax increase in parliament and in court.
Last month, the Western Cape High Court suspended the half-a percentage point VAT increase in an application brought by the EFF and Democratic Alliance.
The EFF has maintained that parliament’s adoption of the fiscal policy framework was unlawful.
Streets that will be affected by this morning’s march include Stanza Bopape, Madiba, Paul Kruger and Lilian Ngoyi.
