The bus crash happened on the R34 between Ulundi and Vryheid in the north of KwaZulu-Natal.
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leadership will assist in the identification of the 10 people who died in a bus crash on the R34 between Ulundi and Vryheid in the north of KwaZulu-Natal over night.
The death toll has been revised down to 10 from the initial 12, which was indicated early this morning.
The bus was carrying EFF supporters who attended the party’s national Youth Day rally in Durban.
It’s alleged that an oncoming truck hit the bus along its side, ripping it open.
Altogether 32 people have been injured, ten of whom are in a serious condition.
EFF spokesperson Sinawo Thambo says the bus was taking the EFF supporters back to Vryheid.
“Yes, so we are still in KZN and we are now going to be working on the identification of any individuals involved, so we can reach out to the families and express our condolences. So, before we issue any statements or plans about what would happen going forward, we want to actually get the identity and speak to those family members and we’ll then take it from there. But it’s such a tragedy, we just emphasize that we need to do better on our roads.”
