EFF demands arrest of Batohi over Phala Phala case

The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has called for the arrest of the head of the National Director of Public Prosecution (NDPP) Advocate Shamila Batohi, accusing her of defeating the ends of justice following the decision not to prosecute President Cyril Ramaphosa or anyone in relation to the Phala Phala case.

This stems from the 2022 criminal complaint laid by the former head of the State Security Agency Arthur Fraser after the theft of half a million US dollars in cash from the president’s farm.

Malema addressed hundreds of his supporters during a march to the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg.

“Batohi must be arrested for defeating the ends of justice. How can Batohi not arrest Ramaphosa after Ramaphosa accepted that he used dollars. In SA there is only one currency that can be used to trade. Once you enter SA, it doesn’t matter who you are, you use the rand, you don’t use dollars. Once you use dollars, its illegal, you must be arrested. How can Ramaphosa be the only that is allowed to use because he is the one who must be number one in defending the currency of South Africa.”
