The Economic Freedom Fighters in the Free State has lambasted the police for failing to arrest what the EFF says are known suspects in the murder of a man who was buried on a farm next to Kroonstad on the way to Welkom in the Free State in July.
EFF Provincial Secretary, Bosanku Msimanga, says the body was found by police after the confession of a farmworker who allegedly participated in the burying of the corpse.
Msimanga says the owner of the farm is facing another case of attempted murder after firing a shot at one of the farm dwellers and missing her.
Police are yet to respond to an enquiry by SABC News.
Msimanga says police need to redeem themselves.
“They must tell us how many cases were opened, who the victims are and who the suspects are. This information can easily indicate what direction the investigation should take. Also, the number of firearms the suspect has needs to be checked and confiscated for ballistic testing. Reluctance in arresting white people who committed heinous crimes has become synonymous with Kroonstad Police Station,” says Msimanga.
