Education dept promotes child safety through anti-bullying campaign

The Basic Education Department says its annual anti-bullying campaign highlights calls to protect children from all forms of school-related violence.

The Deputy Minister Reginah Mhaule will lead a national Anti-Bullying commemoration event later on Wednesday to mark the UNESCO International Day Against Violence and Bullying at School.

“The annual observance highlights the global call to protect children and young people from all forms of school-related violence, including the growing risks associated with online harassment and technology-facilitated abuse. Now this year’s theme, “Screen smart: Learning to be safe in the digital era,” focuses on strengthening digital safety, promoting responsible online behaviour and empowering learners to navigate the evolving digital environment safely,” says department’s spokesperson Terence Khala.
