Eastern Cape police looking for mother after baby dumped in Cala


Eastern Cape police are investigating a case of child neglect, following a baby that was dumped at a field in Cala.

The members from Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offenses are seeking public assistance to locate the baby’s mother.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Nobuntu Gantana explains, “It is alleged that on Saturday 28 June 2025, police were summoned to a scene and on arrival they found a +- 4-week-old baby boy dumped and still alive. The baby was taken to hospital for medical examination and a case of child neglect was opened.
