Durban City are off to a flying start in the Premiership campaign.
Durban City had a dream start in their 2025/2026 Betway Premiership campaign, beating TS Galaxy 2-0 in Mpumalanga on Sunday afternoon.
City moved to second spot on the log with three points after scoring two goals in the second half.
City, previously known as Maritzburd United, were crowned National First Division champions last season. Samkelo Maseko broke the deadlock in the opening seconds of the second half, scoring the first-ever goal for City in the Betway Premiership.
The homeside will feel hard done by after they were not awarded in penalty after a William de Kock handled the ball in the danger area.
Keeper Ira Tape produced a brilliant save to deny City from close range. But shortly afterwards defender Mfanafuthi Mkhize made it 2-0 with a good header from a corner kick.
Durban City coach Gavin Hunt remains calm under the gaze of Ernst Middendorp, brushing off any notion of pressure under the new technical director.

Tape produced another save 8 minutes from time to deny City their third goal. The KwaZulu Natal-based club will next host Chippa United at Durban’s Chartsworth Stadium on Wednesday evening.
