The trial of uMkhonto weSizwe Party Member of Parliament, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, is set to start on Monday at the Durban High Court.
Zuma-Sambudla, who is the daughter of former president Jacob Zuma, faces charges in terms of the Terrorism Act.
During Zuma-Sambudla’s pre-trial conference in August, State Prosecutor Advocate Yuri Gangai indicated that they intend calling at least six witnesses. Three of the state witnesses will be social media experts.
“Indeed the state is ready to proceed and the presiding officer has certified the case trial ready. The state has advised that the witnesses would range from 6 to 8. As you heard some of them will be expert witnesses but we will advise the courts closer to the date. On the previous occasion the defence advised that they’re going to make representations to the national director. We have not been told that there has been a representation that has been made as yet,” says NPA regional spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara.
