[FILE IMEGE] A donkey carrying a load
1 minute
The Eastern Cape Department of Rural Development and Agrarian Reform is calling all individuals that might have been bitten by a donkey exhibiting signs of rabies at Nqanqarhu formerly Maclear, to come forward.
The department says the donkey was aggressive and exhibited unusual behaviour.
It bit at least two people who went to the local clinic.
The Department’s Communication Officer, Thozi Manyisana, says reports suggest more people were bitten and did not seek medical help.
Manyisana says the donkey was put down by the police after veterinarians were unable to euthanize it due to its aggressive behaviour.
Samples taken from the donkey have been sent to a laboratory for testing.
