FILE | March against GBVF.
The community of Dobsonville in Soweto is up in arms. They took to the streets on Sunday, marching against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and calling for justice for victims.
This comes after a prominent pastor and social media influencer from Dobsonville, allegedly raped a 13-year-old girl from the community.
The residents say they are marching to show solidarity and support for the girl – after some congregants rallied behind the pastor, saying he is innocent until proven guilty.
The pastor is in custody after his arrest earlier this week. He is expected to appear in court on Tuesday for a formal bail application.
The rape was reported to the police after the child was treated at a local clinic over the Easter weekend.
