DJ Sumbody’s murder suspects to appear in court

The four suspects arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of musician and businessman Oupa Sefoka, popularly known as ‘DJ Sumbody’ and his two bodyguards are expected to appear in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court this morning.

Sefoka was gunned down in a hail of bullets in Woodmead, north of Johannesburg, in November 2022.

The group was arrested yesterday afternoon.

National Police spokesperson Brigadier Athlenda Mathe says, “Three of the suspects are believed to be hitmen and one is believed to have ordered the hit on the DJ. The weapon that was used in the commission of the crime is in police custody and has since been linked to other murders.”

Mathe adds, “This is a significant breakthrough that would hopefully provide closure to the families involved. This is one of those complex cases that our teams needed to take time in ensuring thorough investigation, so that we could bring a strong case before court.”
