The Umkhonto weSizwe party says the Western Cape High Court’s decision to suspend the VAT increase only addresses a symptom of a deeper crisis that includes aggressive austerity, restrictive monetary policies and a privatization agenda that the party says is being brutally imposed on South Africans.
The MKP says President Cyril Ramaphosa is at the heart of this with what it terms “the so-called Economic Reconstruction and Recovery Plan”.
It says it believes the plan is a brutal blueprint for mass impoverishment, that it says is shamelessly supported by the DA.
uMkhonto weSeizwe party says that the ERRP is a war against the poor, built on savage austerity, anti-worker reforms and suffocating monetary policies that have destroyed any prospect of meaningful recovery.
It adds that the so-called “differences” between the ANC and DA are pure theatre between ideological twins committed to deepening inequality and looting the country.
The MKP says that the GNU remains committed to neo-liberal policies of austerity and privatizing strategic public assets like Eskom, Transnet, and water boards.
The party says South Africans deserve a bold, caring and people-driven economic future, one led by the MK Party.
