Deceased in Sandton shooting had two attempted murder cases

Gauteng police say one of the deceased from Thursday night’s shooting at the Solo restaurant in Sandton, Johannesburg,  had two pending cases of attempted murder. The shooting left three people dead and four others injured.

According to police spokesperson, Brigadier Brenda Murudili, a man with a firearm wanted to enter the restaurant which has a no firearm policy, when an altercation began.

This led to a shootout between the man’s bodyguards and security at the restaurant.

Muridili says one of deceased was involved in a similar incident previously.

“We do know that one of the deceased was undergoing a court case of two counts of attempted murder, where an incident almost similar to this one (occurred). The man was trying to force his way into the restaurant, also in Sandton, there was an altercation. Two people were injured and there are two cases of attempted murder that are currently underway.”
