SASSA has extended the December deadline for beneficiaries to get their new gold card.
The Postbank has clarified that the deadline for social grant beneficiaries to replace their gold SASSA cards with the new black Postbank cards is May and not April.
This follows comments by Minister in the Presidency Khumbudzo Ntshavheni during a post-Cabinet briefing on Thursday, where she stated that the deadline had been extended to 30 April.
Postbank says there has been confusion over the cut-off date.
So far, 1.3 million of the 2.6 million beneficiaries have successfully made the switch. Postbank CEO, Nikki Mbengashe, briefed the media in Pretoria.
“We wanted to clarify; we know that there has been some confusion in the media in terms of the builds that are speaking to April. Please activate this as the confirmed extension of the use of the SASSA gold card for these two months. So, we are pleading with the media to please help us. We apologise for the confusion that was created, but we really, truly appreciate the media helping us to clarify that people have April, the whole of April and the whole of May.”
