The Basic Education Department has urged the public to be wary of a fraudulent social media post currently circulating online. The post falsely claims that learners must pay a fee to enrol in the Matric Second Chance Programme.
The programme supports those who have not met the requirements of the National Senior Certificate.
The department says the registration for the programme closed on Tuesday.
Acting Director of Communications, Terrence Khala says, “The Department of Education wishes to warn members of the public of fake social media posts purporting to showcase the second chance matric support programme. Now it is important for candidates and members of the public to be aware that the second chance matric support programme is a free programme offered by the Department of Basic Education.”
