About 8000 Gauteng Education Assistants will not receive their stipends on time. This is due to an ongoing data verification process.
The Gauteng Education Department says participating schools have confirmed placements for Education Assistants and submitted their validated data.
The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) wishes to notify the public, particularly Education and General Assistants, of potential delays in payment due to an ongoing data verification process.

However, some of the data is being reviewed due to issues including duplicate or invalid ID numbers and incorrect banking details.
Gauteng Education spokesperson Steve Mabona says, “As a result, only Assistants whose details have been verified and cleared will receive payment in batches. Those still undergoing verification will be paid once their data is finalised. The Department is working tirelessly to complete this process before the end of July 2025. We will work tirelessly to ensure that all Assistants receive their full payments once the verification is complete.”
