DA’s Solly Msimanga leads party’s walkabout in Joburg CBD

Gauteng Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Solly Msimanga has led the party’s walkabout in the Johannesburg Central Business District (CBD).

Msimanga visited several key points including the Carlton Centre building as well as Small and Lillian Ngoyi streets.

The party says this is an opportunity for them to assess the level of crime in the CBD.

He spoke to a number of businesspeople as well as ordinary people on the streets on how the high level of crime in the inner city is affecting them.

Msimanga says there’s no political will to rid the city of crime.

“We find ourselves in situation where crime is not really being assessed, because politicians and criminal elements are working together. And this is the concern that we are sitting with. Are we having a mafia or a criminal state? Or are we really going to see some clean-up that is taking some place here? And this is something that we are going to be pushing going forward,” adds Msimanga.
