Murder accused Reinhardt Leach.
The trial of Reinhardt Leach, accused of the 2021 murder of Vicky Terblanche, continued on Tuesday in the Gqeberha High Court.
The state alleges Leach was hired by Vicky’s estranged husband, Arnold Terblanche, to murder her amid a R5-million divorce settlement.
Arnold has pleaded not guilty and will be tried separately.
The final witness today was Charissa Roets, the sister of Arnold’s then-girlfriend, Krystal. Charissa testified about Arnold’s attempts to discredit Vicky during their divorce.
WhatsApp conversations between Charissa and Krystal revealed that Arnold had offered Leach R60 000 to sign an affidavit claiming Vicky was a drug user to help him gain custody of their son.
The WhatsApp messages between the sisters also revealed instructions by Krystal to make false police reports and stage a break-in at Vicky’s house after she had been killed.
Earlier on Tuesday, cell phone expert Dermesh Kanti and Vicky’s neighbour at the time Alexa Jane Evans also took the stand as state witnesses.
The trial continues on Wednesday.
