DA urges Moqhaka Municipality to fill 120 waste management vacancies

The Democratic Alliance in the Free State says it will push the Moqhaka Municipality to fill 120 posts in the waste management department.

The party says the municipality is in a waste management crisis. This comes after the community of Seisoville in Kroonstad took to the streets over electricity hikes and other service delivery issues.

DA councillor David Nzunga has urged the municipality to fill these positions, saying they are budgeted for.

“The DA in Moqhaka raised concerns about the growing shortage of personnel/general workers at the waste management department, which is responsible for collecting refuse from 35114 households across the Moqhaka local municipality. This leads to the municipality paying more for overtime as they strive to meet the deadline, and that also impacts the personnel the municipality currently has, as they often submit medical certificates. The DA urges the municipality to fill these positions, as it is budgeted for.”
