MMC for Roads and Transport in the City of Johannesburg Kenny Kunene.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Johannesburg has called on Mayor Dada Morero to take urgent action against Transport MMC Kenny Kunene and remove him permanently from his position.
Kunene was found at the home of Katiso “KT” Molefe, the alleged mastermind behind the murder of Oupa John Sefoka, popularly known as DJ Sumbody.
Kunene has confirmed to the SABC News that he was present at Molefe’s home in Sandton when he was arrested on Monday.
He has since been suspended by the Patriotic Alliance (PA) for one month, pending an investigation.
The DA’s Belinda Kayser-Echeozonjoku says, “Gayton McKenzie’s so-called removal of Kenny Kunene as a Member of the Mayoral Committee in Johannesburg is yet another example of the Patriotic Alliance’s trademark style: unlawful and misguided. The Democratic Alliance urges Mayor Dada Morero to act against the tainted Kunene, and remove him from his post as MMC permanently.”
“Hanging out with suspected murderers and bringing the entire executive into disrepute is punishable, and Morero must act. A paid, month-long holiday is not an option for Kunene. Nothing short of his unconditional removal will suffice,” adds Kayser-Echeozonjoku.
