Court to make ruling in Malema firearm case on Wednesday

Judgment in the firearm case against EFF leader Julius Malema and his former bodyguard Adriaan Snyman, has been rolled over to the third and final day for conclusion in the East London Magistrate’s Court.

Malema is accused of discharging a firearm in public, which was allegedly handed to him by Snyman during the party’s fifth anniversary celebrations in July 2018.

The case was lodged by lobby group AfriForum.

Presiding Magistrate Twanet Olivier has assured the accused that judgment will be handed down on Wednesday.

“Yesterday and today dealt with the summarising of the entire case and all the exhibits and that consumed two days, I could not do otherwise. What is left is the evaluation and findings. I cannot see that taking two and a half hours max.”
