A full bench of judges of the Western Cape High Court is expected to continue hearing of Professor Adam Mendelsohn’s application against the University of Cape Town.
This follows a UCT resolution taken in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
The resolution stipulates that no UCT academic may enter into new, or continue with, existing relations with a group or network affiliated to the Israeli Defence Force.
Mendelsohn approached the court in an effort to have the resolution reviewed and set aside out of concern for its financial implications.
Advocate Tembeka Ngcukaitobi for UCT said that the decision was taken from a moral standpoint.
