The Howick Magistrate’s Court in KwaZulu-Natal has heard that R70 000 was paid as a hit on the chief whip of the Umngeni Municipality, Nhlalayenza Ndlovu.
This is part of the state’s submission in the bail application by murder accused Inkosi Simphiwe Zuma from the Nxamalala Tribal Authority.
It’s alleged that he ordered the hit on Ndlovu.
Zuma, who is related to Ndlovu, is charged with four other accused in the matter.
Ndlovu was shot dead outside his house in front of his wife and children at Mpophomeni in 2023.
The state alleges that Ndlovu was killed because he was a stumbling block to the illegal selling of land and the sale of illegal electricity connections to residents said to be spearheaded by Zuma.
