The Lenasia Magistrate’s Court in Gauteng has heard that some of the eleven accused in SASSA fraud, allegedly intimidated and threatened members of the investigating team.
The eleven are accused of syphoning-off hundreds of millions of rands from state coffers meant for SASSA grant beneficiaries.
The accused allegedly orchestrated an elaborate scheme through coordinated fraudulent transactions.
Magistrate Maggie van der Merwe has instructed the defense to file their final submissions following the state’s evidence in previous court appearances.
“Tyme bank cards, FNB cards, the point I’m making is what was I found in his possession was direct, unlike the employees, footprint that is left in the system. I don’t understand why you’re saying this, are you saying it is a weak case.”
