Court dismisses DA’s cadre deployment appeal with costs

The Democratic Alliance (DA)’s appeal to have the African National Congress (ANC)’s cadre deployment policy declared unconstitutional has been dismissed with costs by the Gauteng High Court in Pretoria.

The party, which sought leave to appeal to the SCA on the grounds that the appellate court would reach a different conclusion, argued that the long-standing policy was at the root of failure in state-owned enterprises.

The court, in its judgment, however, found that the DA failed to demonstrate compelling reasons for the granting of leave to appeal.
