An urgent court application to overturn Johannesburg African National Congress (ANC) Councillor Loyiso Masuku’s election as regional chairperson has been dismissed for lack of urgency.
The High Court in Johannesburg found that the applicant Stanley Itshegetseng has not exhausted internal ANC mechanisms.
Itshegetseng is the special advisor to the current Johannesburg Mayor Dada Morero.
Masuku defeated Morero to become the party’s Johannesburg regional chairperson at the ANC Elective Conference in December last year.
However, this led to claims of fraud and manipulation of votes.
