Career counselor Sanele Gamede says not passing matric should not be seen as a failure but rather as an opportunity for personal growth and decision-making.
This is ahead of the release of the 2024 matric results on Monday.
However, the Department of Basic Education has created a Second Chance Matric Support Programme to assist learners who have not been able to meet the National Senior Certificate requirements.
Gamede has encouraged parents to be supportive during this period.
” The most important thing is to support them and be there for them and allow a shoulder for them to cry on and for them is to do the same as well, to reach out and seek help if they feel like they are not coping. So, do talk to someone there are facilities for people that are there to assist you and I want them to embrace the fact that they are waiting for results of their hard work and to be comfortable with the fact that they’ve worked so hard”.
