Cosatu urges Malatsi to intervene in Post Office business rescue

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) says it wants the Minister of Communications and Digital Technologies, Solly Malatsi, to intervene in the ongoing business rescue process of the Post Bank and Post Office.

Cosatu’s Parliamentary Coordinator, Matthew Parks, made a submission on the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) to Parliament’s Standing Committee on Appropriations this morning.

This is part of the committee’s ongoing public hearings on the MTBPS.

The Post Office has been under business rescue since 2023.

Parks says to ensure that the matter is concluded swiftly, Malatsi needs to intervene.

“We have not seen progress under business rescue practitioners, but instead we have seen retrenchments. We hope the minister, will move things forward, not seen any movement forward. Treasury also needs to honor its capital injection plan as well,” says Parks.
